A number of these apps are genuinely useful, but beg to be integrated into a more seamless experience (cab hailer into a map app perhaps, or training your phone to know it’s place woven into your profile settings)
From a technical standpoint, of interest is that a lot of these apps have been made for the Android platform, further underlining that an open platform helps to spawn innovative solutions..
